SitePoint
is looking for aDesign Blogger
Description
ABOUT THIS JOB
We are seeking a passionate, creative web designer to join the core blogging team responsible for creating daily content on sitepoint.com.
This job will offer you the ability to work from home with autonomy, and directly influence the front page content on one of the most highly trafficked web development sites on the Internet.
Each blogger is expected to contribute a minimum of 5 posts per week. Posts may include graphics tips, tutorials on creating special effects using tools like Photoshop, Illustrator and Fireworks, as well as opinion and news covering other topics relevant to designers—icons, layout, illustration, HTML/CSS, photography, photo editing, interaction design, information architecture, usability, accessibility, resource lists, demonstrations, news, interviews, and product reviews.
Pay is offered at a very competitive per post rate with generous traffic bonuses.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• The blogger will be responsible for 5 posts per week
• Posts must be spread out over the entire week (i.e., we’re not looking for 5 posts every Monday!)
• Posts should be at least 300 words in length, and should generally average 400-600 words
• Posts should be image-heavy, with lots of screenshots, examples and inspirational imagery
REQUIREMENTS
• While previous blogging experience is not required, it is helpful
• You possess a strong command of the English language—ideally we’re looking for writers whose posts require little or no editing
• You are a current or former freelance web developer or designer (we want someone who can write from experience)
• You have a familiarity with Wordpress
Blogger positions will be offered on a contractor basis.
How to apply
Keen to share your words with our audience? Apply for this job by emailing the following to editor@sitepoint.com:
• A resume—keep it brief. We just want to know at a snapshot who you are, not your life story.
• A sample post that is unique and will knock our socks off. It’s up to you which topic you choose—but your choice will tell us a lot about how well you understand our audience!
• An indication of your availability (remember we're looking for 5 posts per week)
• Some links to design-related work that you have done in the past—this could be a portfolio of sites that you’ve designed, a collection of illustrations you’ve created, or something equally creative.
• At least four links to examples of writing that you have had published online elsewhere
