If so, we have a position for you: Web Community / Content Manager
An established media company has an immediate need for a full-time, in-house Web Community / Content Manager. This person will be responsible for screening, editing, writing, and developing news and information content.
This member of our team will function as part of our Web Development department and work to continuously improve our user experience online by providing interesting, relevant content that keeps audiences coming back again and again.
You will:
- Write, edit, and develop your own and others’ in-house originally generated content for the web.
- Work with the community and departments within our company to insure that online content is of the highest quality, timely, dynamic, effective, informative and of interest / relevant to the users of the web sites and other interactive applications.
-Blog about, screen, highlight, and feature the “best of the web” content found online each day.
- Be diplomatic. You’ll monitor, screen, and resolve web community disputes, remove inappropriate material, and provide customer / community support and training on web systems.
- Stay abreast of the pulse of the community and keep tabs on what’s hot on the ‘net and around the Raleigh-Durham area.
- Work with all forms of multimedia (audio, video, Flash, imagery, etc..) to enhance and bring users a unique experience that is unparalleled.
You should:
- Have a love for the web, news, and information.
- Have a reporter’s mentality to dig deep, present both sides of the story and cover all angles.
- Be Active. This is not a job where you’ll sit and stare at a computer screen all day, hiding from daylight and coworkers. Part of the position will be interacting with the community, online but also at public meetings, gatherings, and in public forums / meet-ups. Not just as an attendant, you’ll also probably be organizing them or part of a team that organizes them.
- Be excited about working with cutting edge web technologies to bring them together (“Mash-ups”) for users and website audience.
Requirements
Required Skills:
• Excellent communicator, both orally and written.
• Experience in the fields of Journalism, Blogging, Digital Media, Public Relations, and / or Marketing. Degree preferred.
• Solid spelling, grammatical, and writing skills.
• Ability and desire to excel in a fast-paced environment and accept interruptions and setbacks as part of the routine
• Love working with people and the public.
• Be responsible, dependable and passionate.
Other Preferred Skills:
• Web design, layout, and graphic skills a huge plus.
• Photography skills a plus.
• Experience in developing community / niche websites
• Experience with digital video, audio / podcasting.

This position is a paid, full time, in-house position with benefits.
Unfortunately, relocation assistance is not available.
Salary range is $30k-$35k, DOE.
